Left or Right?
You’ll have to excuse my absence! What started out as a one day absence in protest to SOPA ended up with me getting the full on flu…see what I get for standing up for my rights?I literally ended up in bed for the last 48 hours. On a positive note though I am now 3 books closer to my 150 books in 2012 goal!
This morning though I am feeling at least halfway back to the land of the living. I’m not sure if others would agree with me, as I haven’t showered yet,but well they have to love me right?
So this morning I thought I would blog about a disagreement we have had since the day I moved into the frat house.Nothing major but I do want to hear others’ opinions.
You see we have the kids taking turns setting the tables at meal times. EVERY meal time I have to remind them that forks go on the left and spoons and knives go on the right. Which then leads to someone else in the house(who shall remain nameless for his…or her….protection)saying that no forks go on the right.
THE POOR CHILDREN ARE SO CONFUSED!
So in my haziness of sickness the other night when I attempted to come up for a meal and the kids were setting the table and one of them said,”on the left right?”
and I told them good job,SOMEONE ELSE came up right behind them and told them that no it was on the right. To which I may or may nor have bitten that person’s head off before going back to bed to wallow in my misery of sickness.
I will say this I DID google it. I AM right….but well tell me readers what do you all think?

Absolutely. Although we used to set knife on the inside, fork on the outside on the right of the plate on the cloth napkin in first class. Apparently it is fancier that way 🙂
You win, also you can build babies form scratch. So you will always outrank everyone in the house. Period.
Yes I do seem pretty talented at the whole building babies from scratch thing….as well as coffee cake!
Nana told me to tell you that the forks go on the left side–Nana says! lol
Have I mentioned how much I love Nana and you too Lynda! So glad you took the time to say hi on here!
Yes, forks go on the left. You are right, way to win that one!!
I’m tellin ya you have to pick your battles!and Pick them wisely!
I was raised fork on the left spoon and knife on right. if you watch pretty woman that is how they do it when they are teaching her – you start on the left and work your way in. I don’t know why but that is how I was taught as well
This is, of course, assuming everyone’s right-handed. If you were in a family of lefties I see no reason why it couldn’t be switched.
Forks go on the left, because utensils are places in front of the hand that would use them. You hold the fork in your left hand and the knife in your right when you’re cutting food, so that’s where they’re placed.
aha see!I thought of this as well! The other person thinks we do this because Lane is left handed and I said no that would make no sense because then we’d put the fork on the right!(doin the happy dance now)
