A Baby Pigmy Hippo,A Baby Monkey, and A Human Baby
I remember hearing the story about my parents first trip to the San Diego zoo after they were married. Dad was still in the Navy. This was before yours truely had made her arrival into their world. I imagine their life was much quieter back then. Probably much much boring, but much quieter.
At one stop they saw the Pigmy Hippos. The story goes something to the affect that my dad told my mom he wanted a baby Pigmy Hippo. He told her he’d keep it in the bathtub. I had never seen one until “Prince Harry” was born a couple months ago and his picture was plastered on facebook.
And OH MY GOODNESS!!! I immediately asked Brandon if we too could have a baby Pigmy Hippo. I mean look at all that cuteness!I totally see why my dad wanted one. Alas though B said no,even if it would score major points with my dad.
It’s also totally ok as well because I’ve already warned Brandon we’re probably going to give birth to a baby monkey. I mean ALL of my kids have inherited my hairiness.(Wow say that three times fast.) They are usually covered in hair from the top of their heads right down to their cute little tails…I mean tail bone. Heck some of them have even had cowlicks on their backs.
Again I’d be ok with this because once again who WOULDN’T want one of these?
In exactly 27 hours and 10 minutes I will be sitting in the perineonatal office awaiting the MUCH awaited 20 week ultrasound. Yes the main reason I’m going to the specialist is to make sure that baby’s heart looks fine. Which according to yesterdays Dr apt baby’s heart beat was sitting nicely at 150 and was found right away. We all know the REAL reason we’re excited for this appointment though….as B would put it to FINALLY shut Wendy up. Ok he means it nicely but the poor guy has been listening to me say,”I wonder what we’re having…ohhh I really hope it’s a boy.”
It’s no secret around here that we all pretty much want a boy. Brandon for the sheer fact it would be his first boy. Me for the sheer fact that well…it’s time for another boy.The kids because well the boys are feeling a little outnumbered.
They all have bets on whether or not I will cry if they say it’s going to be a girl. Yet another story I’ll never live down. When I found out Kenna was a girl I wanted another boy so badly that I held it in until my mom said,”Wendy you’re a bit dissapointed aren’t you.” And right there in the middle of the restaurant I broke down crying…sobbing. I mean having a daughter after being given the mother curse of,” I hope you have a daughter just like you someday.” scared the crap outta me! Never though could I imagine that she’d bless my life so deeply.
So in honor of tomorrow’s life changing ultrasound I have put together a little poll! Go ahead and vote tell me what YOU think we’re having. Is it a boy or a girl? Will my dad finally get his Pigmy Hippo? Or well realistically will it be a baby monkey?
Don’t worry I’ll try not to keep ya’ll in suspense for too long tomorrow!
